Jaws Derby Rules 2010

The JAWS DERBY begins Friday June 4th one hour before sunrise and runs until noon Sunday June 6th.   The fishing area is west of a line running from the Port Wing Wisconsin entry to the Two Harbors Minnesota entry.  This includes the Duluth/Superior harbor and the St. Louis River and bays.  You may only use public accesses or marina facilities that are located within the Jaws Derby boundaries.  Anyone fishing east of the Port Wing Two Harbors line will be disqualified.

Weigh-in Times:

Friday June 4th and Saturday June 5th     Noon – 1:00 pm

                                                                     5:00pm -8:00pm

Sunday June 6th      11:00am-Noon

Weigh-in requirements:

  • The person weighing a fish must be the person whom caught the fish, and must supply their derby ticket.
  • A person entering a fish must be in line at the weigh-in station before the weigh-in closing time to be eligible to enter the fish.  A “stand in” person will be allowed to hold a place only if both the person entering the fish and the fish to be entered are at the

weigh-in station no later than 10 minutes after the published weigh-in closing time. No other early or late weigh-in will be allowed.

  • Any fish not considered fresh will be disqualified by Jaws Derby officials.
  • A person may enter only one fish in each fish category but may replace the fish with a larger one. ( a contestant  may only win one place in each fish division).

All boats and their coolers may be subject to immediate inspection before,  during, or immediately after the Jaws Derby upon any  JAWS  Official’s request or face possible tournament disqualification.

JAWS Officials reserve the right to disqualify any participant, or any boat’s participants at any time for any or no reason.  Upon disqualification, participant fees may or may not be refunded at the will of JAWS Officials.

The goal of JAWS Officials is to sponsor a fun and fair fishing contest to recreational and serious fishermen and women.  It is vital that we protect both the tournament’s competition (and thus the competitors), and the tournament’s image!
