JAWS DERBY RULES 2008
The JAWS DERBY begins Friday, June 6, one hour before Sunrise and runs until noon Sunday, June 8, 2008. The fishing area is from the mouth of Barden Creek, Wisconsin to Knife Island at Knife River, Minnesota, westerly to Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin, including the harbor and St. Louis River to the posted boundary. You may only use public accesses or marina facilities that are located within the JAWS derby boundaries. All fish will be weighed in at JAWS DERBY Headquarters (HQ), Barkers Island, Superior, Wisconsin on the same scale.
ALL CREWMEMBERS MUST HAVE A JAWS DERBY TICKET BEFORE FISHING IN THE DERBY IN ANY CATEGORY
Weigh-in Times: Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 4:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 11:00 a.m. - noon (Weigh-in times may be changed if necessary because of weather-check at Derby HQ)
Weigh-in requirements:
- The person catching the fish must weigh in the fish and supply their derby ticket, boat name, boat license number, complete address and telephone number.
- A person entering a fish must be in line at the weigh-in station before weigh-in closing time to be eligible to enter the fish. A "stand in" person will be allowed to hold a place only if both the person entering the fish and the fish to be entered are at the weigh in station no later than 10 minutes after the published weigh in closing time. No other early or late weigh-in will be allowed. The person will be required to supply the derby ticket numbers and name of all persons on board.
- If the fish is to be entered in the Captain's Division, the Captain's name and ticket number must be given at time of weigh-in and the Captain must fill out and sign the Captain's Division registration form.
- A contestant may enter only one fish in each division but may replace the fish with a larger one. (A contestant may only win one place in each fish division.) We will announce periodically, via marine radio, the fish that have been weighed in so you may release any fish that would not place in the contest.
- All fish not considered fresh will be disqualified by the Derby committee representative.

Periodic Daily Drawings: There will be periodic daily drawings held daily on Friday and Saturday using JAWS DERBY ticket holders and the winning numbers will be posted at JAWS DERBY headquarters. The person must claim the prize by 8:30 p.m., the day the number is drawn or the prize will be recycled and drawn for again the following day. Nightly Drawing Prizes: Special prize drawings for JAWS DERBY ticket holders will be held after the weigh-in time (8:00 p.m.) on Friday and Saturday nights. You must be present to win at this drawing. Designated ticket holding will not be allowed. There will be refreshments and souvenirs at JAWS DERBY Headquarters. (Free coffee)
AWARDS CEREMONY AND DRAWING: On Sunday, June 8, Derby tickets will be exchanged for special drawing tickets for drawing prizes at the Awards ceremony that will be held in the Barkers Island Inn Ballroom. You do not have to be present to win a drawing prize, but you must designate someone to exchange your ticket and claim your prize. Come early to exchange your derby ticket and get a good seat. Don't forget to reserve your dock space or hotel accommodations early.
JAWS DERBY Ticket Registration: Adults $15.00 and children (under 16) $10.00. Each person on the boat must have a Derby ticket before commencing the tournament. Tickets will be available in area stores until Thursday, June 5. Tickets will be on sale at Derby Headquarters until Noon on Saturday, June 7 for fishing. Tickets sold afterwards will be punched for drawing prizes only.

JAWS DERBY 2008 Contest Divisions
INDIVIDUAL AWARDS Salmon - Lake Trout - Walleye - Northern 1st Place Trophy / Gift Certificate 2nd Place Trophy / Gift Certificate 3rd Place Trophy / Gift Certificate 4th Place Gift Certificate 5th Place Gift Certificate 6th THRU 10th Places / Prizes
Rules and prizes may change. Check at JAWS DERBY Headquarters for any changes. Children 15 and under will receive recognition certificated and there will be special drawing prizes.
CAPTAIN'S DIVISION The captain must be a current member of the Western Lake Superior Trolling Association to enter. Membership application forms are available at JAWS DERBY Headquarters or join early by filling out the form at the bottom of the page and mailing it in.
There are two divisions for Captains - (1) Salmon/Trout Division and (2) Walleye/Northern Division. The total weight of the crew's largest (1) Salmon and Lake Trout or (2) Walleye and Northern caught on the Captain's boat determines the winner. Weights may be replaced if a larger one is caught during the tournament. An Atlantic Salmon or a Brown Trout will be a bonus fish in the Salmon/Trout Division. This is a fun contest so don't forget to join! The competition gets very exciting.

Liability: The purchase of a JAWS DERBY Ticket constitutes a waiver of liability, absolving the association and its membership of any and all liability for damages arising out of this event. The ticket holder acknowledges that the event constitutes a recreational activity under S895.525, Wisconsin Statutes.
